Support Us

One of the most virtuous acts that one can engage in is in supporting the cause of knowledge.

It is related that the great Sultan Mahmud al-Ghaznawi often wondered about three things: firstly, whether he really was the son of his father; Sabukhtagin.

Secondly, what action he could do, in order to please Allah, and thirdly how he could see the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

One day, on one of his rounds of the streets of the capital, he saw a poor boy with a book in his hand, sitting at the door of a house. Every few minutes the boy ran to the neighbouring grocers shop and had a look at the book in the light of the lamp. Then he came back to his seat and began learning what he had read. The Sultan felt greatly touched. He immediately gave the boy the golden lamp which the servants held for the Sultan. That same night, the Sultan had a dream. He saw the blessed Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said to him,

"O son of Sabuktagin, Allah will give you honour in this world and the in the Hereafter. This is your reward for showing kindness to a seeker of knowledge." And so all three wishes of the Sultan were fulfilled.

Sakina was established in order to help serve the cause of sacred knowledge, to acquaint people with the beauty of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and to instil a link between the Ahl al-Bayt, the saints and scholars of the past and the people today. In order to achieve this we welcome any good hearted donations which would help us in fulfilling our cause.

Since the founding member is from the Ahl al-Bayt we would request that any donations are not given with the intention of sadaqah, that is of charity but that they are given purely lillah, for the sake of Allah.
